About MassPIRG
The Massachusetts Student Public Interest Research Group (MassPIRG) is a statewide student-directed, student-funded, nonpartisan organization engaging in research, education, service, and action on environmental, consumer, higher education, voter registration, and hunger relief issues. MassPIRG chapters across the state pool resources through a waivable fee each semester and hire a staff of professionals to work with students on these issues. GCC students have voted to fund a MassPIRG chapter on campus. Therefore, day students are automatically assessed the $9 charge each semester. For more information about MassPirg visit the website: http://www.masspirgstudents.org.
MassPIRG contribution
GCC students are assessed a $9 per semester voluntary contribution to MassPIRG.
Waiving MassPIRG
You can waive this charge by completing the online waiver. Upon receipt of your online waiver, the Student Billing Office will then post a waiver to your account which will remove the charge.
MassPIRG and Financial Aid funds
Federal Regulations prohibit Financial Aid funds to be used for paying a charge that is not considered an educational expense. Therefore, this charge will remain on your account until you either waive it or pay it from your own financial resources.
