You don’t have to come to Greenfield just to take a fantastic GCC class.  We offer convenient opportunities for learning—and earning college credits!—at Smith College in Northampton on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Most classes are just one night a week!

Who can register for GCC classes at Smith?
Anyone!  Students can be enrolled in a degree program at GCC or just taking one class.

How do I register for GCC classes at Smith?
Students can work with their advisor or the Academic Advising Center to register for classes at Smith.  Registration for these courses is the same as for on-campus classes. New students should follow our steps to enroll to get started.

Do courses taken at Smith transfer to other institutions?
Most of the classes taught at Smith are general liberal arts electives.  These classes are transferable to other two and four year institutions if the course is passed with a grade accepted by the transfer college or university.

In what building do the classes meet?
All of the GCC classes are held in Seelye Hall.  Seelye Hall is located off Greene Street.

Are there bus routes that drop off at Smith College?
The Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) serves Northampton with public bus transportation within the City and to surrounding towns in the Pioneer Valley with direct service to Amherst, Easthampton, Williamsburg, Holyoke, and Greenfield. PVTA runs regular buses between the Five Colleges (Smith College, Mt. What resources are available for students taking classes at Smith College?
GCC provides a site supervisor who is available every Tuesday and Thursday night in Seelye Hall.  The Smith College Library is available for students’ use.  There are computer labs available for limited use in Seelye Hall.  Copy machines are located in the Library or at Paradise Printing.  (There is a fee for copying.)

 Are there dining services available on campus?
There are many dining services available on the Smith Campus, the closest being the Campus Center.  There are also restaurants on Greene Street that are a quick walk from the building.

Where do I park?
Parking is permitted in any parking lot at Smith College in the white lined spaces. During the winter months those spaces may be difficult to determine so we encourage you to use the parking garage on West Street (Route 66) just beyond the Forbes Library on your left.  No parking is allowed on the first floor of the garage; parking is free on all other levels.
